Alex Rins: (7th/Suzuki): “This is completely unacceptable” / MotoGP

Grid position 7 for Suzuki works driver Alex Rins on Saturday in qualifying in Austin. The Spaniard speaks of a roller coaster and he absolutely doesn’t agree with the games in qualifying.

Five Ducati riders start the “Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas” on Sunday in Texas in front. Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo will start sixth, just ahead of Alex Rins (Suzuki). The Spaniard had to take a detour via the first qualifying on Saturday at the Circuit of the Americas, he finished the decisive Q2 session in 7th place with his GSX-RR. Pole setter Jorge Martin drove 0.6 seconds faster than the Suzuki factory driver on his fastest lap.

“A good performance, but the day was like a rollercoaster,” said Rins after qualifying. “We didn’t make it straight into Q2 because of the yellow flags in the third practice session. In the end it went well again and we ended up in 7th place. It’s not the result we were hoping for, but we have good pace for the race. We want to try everything to break through the Ducati wall in front of us.”

How will the World Cup fourth tackle the race, how does he want to Pass lightning fast Ducati riders Jorge Martin, Jack Miller, Pecco Bagnaia, Johann Zarco and Enea Bastianini? “It will be very difficult because the Ducati riders brake so late and they play their power on the straight and when accelerating,” said the 26-year-old.

‘But I’ll try. But I won’t reveal the places where I can make it before the race. But we’re very confident,” Rins made a big secret of his tactics for the 20-lap race.

One thing the Spaniard didn’t find funny at all. In qualifying, there were a lot of drivers on the track waiting for faster drivers. Rins doesn’t like forming a train at all. “The waiting of the other drivers is completely unacceptable,” emphasized the MotoGP rider. “It can’t be in MotoGP. There are riders who wait a lot longer than some Moto3 class riders. Race control has to change something very soon, because that can’t be the right way. We must do something to ensure that these drivers are punished fairly. It can not go on like this.”
