Cathy Hummels: That’s how I told my son (4) about the attack in Tailand – TV

This experience changed her life!

Next Wednesday starts “Battle of the Reality Stars” – the show for which Cathy Hummels (34) was shooting in Thailand in February when she was brutally attacked and robbed by a stranger.

She screamed, “Take what you want and let me live!”

Four months have passed since then. The shock is still in Cathy’s bones. What did the robbery do to her?

Hummels: “If someone approaches from behind or if I can’t hear and see who is behind me, I’m startled and I immediately go into alarm mode. It will be like that for a long time to come because I was attacked from behind. He jumped on me from behind. I will never forget that feeling.”

Luckily there were many people who supported Cathy during the difficult time. “My family helps me, as do my coach and my therapist. I have people to talk to when I need to. I cried and talked a lot. But since the physical pain has subsided, my soul has also gotten better.”

Her experience with depression also helped Cathy, she herself was already affected and struggled through a dark time. “I know myself well now and I know how to deal with such experiences. The ambush left a scar. But scars aren’t a bad thing. They remind me of what I got through.”

Her four-year-old son Ludwig (dad is a soccer player Mats Hummels, 33) felt after the robbery that something was wrong with mom. “My son noticed that I couldn’t walk as well and that I was sad. I then told him that I lost a pirate fight. I just tried to bring it closer to him in a playful way. He was then able to accept and understand that.”

Despite everything that has happened, Cathy wants to look ahead: “I won’t let the beautiful experiences of filming the robbery ruin me. I had an unbelievably great time, everyone gave it their all. It was just bad luck that something so negative happened to me in the end. That could have happened to anyone. I’m just thankful I survived.”

And: “It was an unbelievable shock, you don’t wish that on your biggest enemy. I’m trying not to get into a downward spiral, but to draw strength from the fact that I’ve done it. I’m just happy that fate saved me.”
