Did Man United scouts not know Nkunku?

Actually, the scouting departments of various professional clubs pride themselves on having knowledge of almost every player. Logically, because the more you know about a potential newcomer, the greater the chance that they will actually perform as expected after a possible transfer.
Apparently, this task has not always been fulfilled at Manchester United in the past. At least that’s what ‘ESPN’ journalist Mark Ogden reports in a YouTube interview with ‘Stretford Paddock’ about a curious story that is said to have happened when Ralf Rangnick took office as interim coach at the Red Devils in December.
“Not on our list”
“When Rangnick came to the club he asked the scouts if he could see the reports they had compiled on RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku.”explains Ogden, “Then they shook their heads and said, ‘He’s not on our list.'”
Rangnick then replied in astonishment: “‘Come on, this is the best young player in Germany at the moment, he will soon be a France international. He scores a lot of goals. This is a player everyone needs to know.’”
If this story is actually true, Rangnick’s surprise would be understandable, after all, 24-year-old Nkunku is having the best season of his career. The new French international has scored 27 goals and 17 assists in all competitions so far. Performances that should actually make him interesting for a team like United.
