Expressing that Turkey-Azerbaijan fraternal relations have always been of great importance both for the peoples of the two countries and for the region, Aliyev said, “Because our relations are of great importance not only in a bilateral format, but also in terms of regional security. Turkey and Azerbaijan ensure the future development of our region, security and the welfare of our peoples through joint efforts. The relationship between us is so diverse that it will take a long time to tell about each. We are literally allies, brothers, and there is no relationship in the world like ours. There is no other country in the world that is more interconnected than Turkey and Azerbaijan. This is our great wealth and we protect and strengthen it, we are ready for any situation and we are always by each other’s side,” he said. Emphasizing that he is in constant communication with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Aliyev noted that he spoke with Erdoğan on the phone and they decided together on the steps to be taken.
“Strengthening the ties between us will be very beneficial for the stability and peace of the region,” he said.
Minister Çavuşoğlu thanked Aliyev for the reception and conveyed the greetings of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Çavuşoğlu said, “It was your idea to prepare and sign the Shusha Declaration. We worked on it together with my brother Ceyhun. You signed it with your brother President Erdogan about a year ago, 9 months ago, and about a month ago, it was approved by both parliaments, two days apart. He further strengthened this will. It was important for the representatives of our people to give voice to this,” he said. Çavuşoğlu said, “We are indeed natural allies in the Shusha Declaration. One nation seems to be worthy of two states. We only formalized it with your signatures. Now we are working intensively with our brothers to bring the elements within it to life. Not only the foreign affairs ministers, but all our institutions are working.” “We need to take concrete steps. As you said, the strengthening of the ties between us is not in the interests of the two countries and the peoples, it will be very beneficial for the stability and peace of the region. That is why we consider the elements of the Shusha Declaration in our relations with the countries in the region in three or four formats.” Of course, there are important developments in our region. There are reflections of these developments. There are also important projects that you will implement here, including the Zangezur corridor. In order to provide information about our work on all these issues and what steps we will take from now on, we will discuss them together. I came to Baku today to evaluate it,” he said.
