Geforce RTX 4090 cheaper soon? Supposedly already 100,000 GPUs shipped

from Benjamin Grundken
There is a rumor going around the web that Nvidia has already shipped 100,000 AD102 GPUs for the Geforce RTX 4090. Against this background, if it is true, 2020 and 2021 will probably not be repeated anytime soon. But will the graphics cards also become cheaper?

The Geforce RTX 4090 appeared in the middle of last month and left us impressed back. The Ada Lovelace graphics card can hardly be described as a “people’s pixel accelerator” with a non-binding launch price of 1,949 euros. The market situation of the last few years with its scalpers and market prices far beyond the RRP does not seem to be repeated – but Nvidia is calling up higher prices again on its own. Now the rumor mill claims that the AD102 used in the Geforce RTX 4090 has already been delivered 100,000 times to manufacturers.

Unless Nvidia diverts a higher contingent for server products, that is a lot for a product that has just been launched with a new manufacturing process. A shortage like 2020 and 2021 is therefore unlikely. Should the current from around 2,300 euros available Geforce RTX 4090 actually become more widely available, this would certainly have an impact on the street price. All of this, of course, with the proviso that the rumor and the abstractions communicated with it are correct.

Geforce RTX 4090 cheaper soon? Radeon RX 7900 XTX and Geforce RTX 4080 are pushing

The release of the Geforce RTX 4080 and the first RDNA 3 graphics cards could also have a price-reducing effect. The former will definitely be, the latter could end up behind the Geforce RTX 4090. Nevertheless, the Geforce RTX 4090 would no longer be the only product of the next generation on its own. Even a slightly slower Radeon RX 7900 XTX could, since it should cost significantly less, put Nvidia and retailers under pressure to act. Provided, of course, that the competition brings enough goods onto the market.

The Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT are said to be 999 respectively It will cost $899 and will be released just before Christmas, on December 13, 2022. Neither of them have a euro price yet. The Geforce RTX 4080 with 16 GiByte is scheduled for November 16th. It costs according to Nvidia’s official website from 1,469 euros.
