HSV – Now officially: zero percent chance of promotion! – 2nd Bundesliga
The oath of disclosure from Kiel!
An idealess and soulless HSV squad carelessly gambled away the last chance to get back into the promotion race at 0:1.
Coach Tim Walter (“If we don’t win games, we don’t need to talk about promotion”) and striker Robert Glatzel (“If you drop so many points, don’t start a series and don’t win, then we don’t need to worry about promotion to keep busy”) express what is statistically the sad truth.
The probability of a Bundesliga return has dropped to ZERO percent for Hamburg.
Since the introduction of the three-point rule, no team has ever been promoted that was at least seven points behind a relegation place (like HSV is currently) five games before the end of the season.
The league season is over for the Walter squad. Only the last hope remains Berlin.
On April 19, the semi-finals in the DFB Cup will take place against SC Freiburg. The great opportunity for HSV to be in a final in Berlin’s Olympic Stadium for the first time in 35 years (3-1 final win against Stuttgarter Kickers).
Before this historic event, however, there would be success and with it the sensation against the first division club from Freiburg.
But a win would also take the pressure off Walter. Due to the increasingly bad results recently (three defeats in the last five league games), the criticism of the coach in the environment and also in the club has increased.
The bosses are still holding on to the coach and are willing to make another attempt with Walter in the coming season. Sports director Jonas Boldt at Sky: “Tim Walter does it very, very well. You see that in many games. We will also have patience there.”
But as you know, a well-intentioned project can develop the opposite dynamic and end up costing the head of the coach.
A win against Freiburg could not only save the season a bit…
