Kingdom Hearts 4 – Square Enix expects much better visuals thanks to Unreal Engine 5

A new generation, a new one Kingdom Hearts. This will also show up in terms of quality, which Square Enix expects to be at a significantly higher level.
Like many other projects these days, Square Enix Studios will make increased use of Unreal Engine 5, which has recently become available to all developers. Kingdom Hearts 4 is just one of them.
Opposite of Famitsu the publisher now explained that Kingdom Hearts 4 is still at the beginning of development, in which the Unreal Engine 4 is still used. Later you will switch to the Unreal Engine 5, which brings significant advantages.
The first trailer shown is therefore also based on Unreal Engine 4 and in no way represents the final game, as one comments:
“The full game will be made with Unreal Engine 5, and the quality of the lighting and details will be several notches higher.“

That’s why we’re proud to announce that our next #tombraider game will be powered by Unreal Engine 5! Our goal is how to push the boundaries of fidelity to deliver the highest quality and cinematic adventure that fans of Tomb Raider and our games at Crystal Dynamics deserve.”
