Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant is known as the largest nuclear power plant in Europe and one of the 10 largest nuclear power plants in the world.
In the early days of the Russia-Ukraine war, Russian forces in the north of the country took control of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
Ukraine, which has 15 active nuclear reactors in 4 facilities in the country, provides about half of its electricity from these power plants.
FOREIGN MINISTER KULEBA: POSSIBLE EXPLOSION WOULD BE 10 TIMES LARGER THAN CHERNOBIL
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitro Kuleba reported that the Russian army fired at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, from all sides and a fire broke out at the power plant.
Kuleba said, “If it explodes, it will be 10 times bigger than Chernobyl! The Russians should stop the fire immediately, let the firefighters, establish a security zone.”
