New hope for Freiburg? That’s why Bayern have to worry about their victory

FC Bayern still have to worry about their 4-1 win at SC Freiburg and above all about the three points. Even if numerous experts have assessed the chances of success of the Freiburg appeal as very low, ex-FIFA referee Manuel Graefe has given the people of Breisgau new hope.
“In the end it is a procedure that lies with the DFB sports court. It’s not me who makes the judgement”, with these words Julian Nagelsmann made it clear yesterday that he does not take Freiburg’s objection lightly. Unlike club boss Oliver Kahn, the 34-year-old is “not relaxed” according to his own statements and hopes that the changeover breakdown will not have any consequences for Munich.
While many referee experts have emphasized in recent days that the chances of success of the appeal are very low, ex-Bundesliga referee Manuel Graefe sees it a little differently.
Gräfe comments on the changeover breakdown
While the discussions in the past few days have primarily focused on who is to blame for the fact that Bayern had twelve players on the pitch for almost 20 seconds, Gräfe brings a new aspect into play.
He explained this to the “BILD Zeitung”.that Bayern may have used one exchange slot too many. The 48-year-old refers to rule 3, paragraph 3 (substitution process) of the DFB football rules 2021/2022: “It stipulates that a substitution is complete when the player enters the field, but there are several conditions for this. One is the referee’s approval, another that the player must leave the field. So the change from Sabitzer Coman in the exchange slot with Süle was de facto not yet complete.
Did Bayern use a change slot too much?
In plain language, this means that if the DFB sports court found that Sabitzer’s substitution for Coman was only made after the game was interrupted, this would be a fourth substitution slot that would violate the DFB’s implementation regulations. These provide only three exchange slots per game.
Since the fundamental judgment against VfL Wolfsburg, who made one too many changes in the DFB Cup, the clubs are responsible for the correct implementation of the change slots. The record champion threatens to lose the game 0:2 at the green table.
If the DFB sports court counts the Coman substitution as a Süle change slot, Graefe assumes that Bayern’s 4-1 win will remain.
