Nikon informs about the plans until 2025 | News | dcamera.de

More than 50 Z lenses and the concentration on high-quality cameras are mentioned as goals
As part of a medium-term management plan, Nikon has announced the goals of the entire group until 2025. This also includes the goals of the imaging area and gives a rough insight into the plans for the next few years. The concentration on products with high added value is not surprising. The average sales price (“ASP”) is expected to increase by 20 percent, which can be achieved, among other things, through high-quality models with correspondingly higher prices.
Nikon does not comment more specifically on future product policy, but this goal can probably only be achieved by doing without cheap entry-level models. The presentation of particularly cheap DSLM or DSLR models seems very unlikely in the near future. Such models would undoubtedly counteract the goals. New compact cameras are probably just as far away, with the exception of the superzoom models, it is already almost impossible to buy a Coolpix camera in stores.
However, buyers of “cheaper” models (lower four-digit euro values) can still be a little happy, the features of the Nikon Z 9 (test report)
According to Nikon, they should also be found in other models in the future. Nikon does not name any specific functions here, but the autofocus system, the extremely high continuous frame rate of the camera and the 8K video function came to mind as examples. The latter feature goes very well with Nikon’s stated goal of increasingly appealing to videographers. In addition, this could mean the integration of other professional video features. In addition, Nikon would like to offer improved remote control features and functions for automatic image capture. Licensing of the existing technology is also an issue.
Another goal Nikon gives is the strengthening of the Z system. This is to be achieved, among other things, by introducing new Z lenses. By 2025, more than 50 lenses for the mirrorless system cameras with a Z bayonet will be available, with more lenses to follow after that. A little more than 30 models are listed on the current roadmap as of December 2021, so Nikon will maintain the high pace of development in the years to come.
