No HSV contracts for Gyamerah and Wintzheimer

Irrespective of the outcome of this season, HSV has recently been working intensively on the squad for the next season. With Maximilian Rohr, Anssi Suhonen, Mario Vuskovic, Daniel Heuer Fernandes and Miro Muheim, five professionals have already signed a new contract this year. With another HSV duo, on the other hand, a fairly quiet farewell from the Volkspark is becoming more and more likely.

The signs are impossible to miss. Jan Gyamerah and Manuel Wintzheimer have hardly played a role at HSV recently. There is a high probability that nothing will change in the north duel on Sunday in Kiel (1.30 p.m. / live ticker at mopo.de). It wouldn’t even be surprising if one of the two didn’t even make it into Hamburg’s matchday squad.

Wintzheimer has been fit and available all season so far this season. However, his time in use continued to decrease. While he made it into the starting XI four more times in the first nine matchdays, he was only allowed to play as a joker after that. In the end it wasn’t even enough for that. The 23-year-old striker was on the bench the entire time against Paderborn and Aue.

Wintzheimer has played 70 games for HSV so far

The trend is clear. In the summer, Wintzheimer, who moved to Hamburg from the FC Bayern Munich youth team in 2018 and scored eight goals in 70 competitive games for HSV, will have to look for a new club.

The situation is similar for Gyamerah. The full-back, who has played 53 games (one goal) for Hamburg since moving from Bochum in 2019, is currently no more than an emergency solution at HSV. He has only made two appearances in the past nine games. As with Wintzheimer, almost everything indicates that his contract, which expires in the summer, will not be extended and that the paths will separate in a few weeks.
