So Fortuna stays in, but: Daniel Thioune doesn’t want to know anything about that! – 2nd Bundesliga
The day after the 3-0 win over Rostock, BILD congratulated Daniel Thioune (47) on practically staying up.
But the coach doesn’t want to know anything about that: “You can’t say congratulations on staying up – it’s not like that!” Arithmetically correct, of course. But even Fortuna can’t manage to mess it up anymore…
Since Thioune came on, Fortuna have remained unbeaten in all 8 games since then, are the best team in the 2nd division in this period. You can hardly have any doubts about that. Thioune admits, “At least you can’t doubt the path. It’s fine and maybe entitles us to play in the 2nd division next season…”
But the coach remains cautious: “I’ve seen and experienced a lot of things in football. There are still tricky tasks ahead of us. But the situation has never been as good this year as it is now.”
Thioune himself points out that there is still a lack of stability: “We still have to work on that.”
In theory, Fortuna can do everything mathematically in the next home game against Dresden (April 22, 6:30 p.m. / Sky). Thioune: “I’m not that far yet. We have to go to Hanover first, that’s not easy either.”
But on Easter Saturday (1.30 p.m. / Sky) Düsseldorf is currently even the favorite in the stadium where six months ago they were beaten 0: 3 out of the cup.
Thioune: “I would be happy if we would expand our series.” To end the season undefeated? The coach: “I want to win every game – and we haven’t managed to do that yet.”
But: The way Fortuna is currently performing, the coach and his team can be trusted not to lose a single game this season!
