“We’re thrilled to be investing in Epic as a creative entertainment company to deepen our relationships in the Metaverse, a space where creators and users share their time,” said Kenichiro Yoshida, chairman, president and CEO of Sony Group Corporation .

“We are also confident that Epic’s expertise, including their powerful game engine, combined with Sony’s technologies, will accelerate our diverse efforts such as the development of new digital fan experiences in esports and our virtual production initiatives.” Yoshida further.

“If we are to reinvent the future of entertainment and gaming, we need partners who share our vision. We found this in our partnership with Sony and KIRKBI,” said Tim Sweeney, CEO and Founder of Epic Games. “This investment will accelerate our work building the Metaverse, creating spaces where players can have fun with friends, brands create creative and immersive experiences, and developers build and thrive as a community.”
