Square Enix announces Kingdom Hearts 4

There were 14 years between the release of Kingdom Hearts II (PS2) and Kingdom Hearts III (PS4) – and the signs are good that the dry spell until the next main part of the popular role-playing series is dramatically shorter. Because: Yesterday, Sunday, Square Enix just released a 7-minute “Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary Announcement Trailer”. We skillfully ignore the scenes from the iOS or Android title Kingdom Hearts Dark Road and the new mobile offshoot Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link and jump to minute 4:07 of the trailer show.

Because it’s about Kingdom Hearts 4, the – O-Ton Square Enix – “triumphant return of the beloved RPG series”. The Japanese around series maestro Tetsuya Nomura promise an “updated look at the beginning of an epic new storyline entitled The Lost Master Arc”. In the trailer, hero Sora is about to plunge into a boss fight against a giant beast that takes place in the so-called Quadratum – “a large, sprawling city set in a beautiful, realistic world unlike anything seen before in the Kingdom Hearts series has given.” Thank you Square Enix – we couldn’t have said it any better.

Speaking of beautiful: We would have found a release date or at least a period of time, even if in view of the odyssey of part 3 nobody would have taken it at face value anyway. There is also no word on the platforms so far, although owners of a Sony console probably have good prospects. Last but not least we get to see the goofy duo Donald and Goofy. But see for yourself…
