Only eight ball contacts after about an hour. That was Moukoko’s meager record in BVB’s 4-3 win over FC Augsburg. From his point of view, it was particularly annoying that he mumbled the ball past FCA keeper Rafal Gikiewicz’s goal in the 23rd minute.

“Every striker wants to score goals,” explained Moukoko after the game in the mixed zone. “In the end I made the wrong decision. I should have shot with my right hand. But I learn from that. I am also here to learn.”

And there was another reason to be happy. He is “very happy” about his own contract extension until the summer of 2026, says the BVB striker. “Anyone would have taken the same amount of time in my place. In the end I made my decision, it was also the right decision.”

BVB announces extra time before the Augsburg game in the stadium: Moukoko is moved

In Dortmund he will earn at best 6 million euros per year including all bonuses. In addition, BVB paid the 18-year-old 10 million euros in earnest money. His advisor Patrick Williams also collects 10 percent of what Moukoko earns in salary and 5 million euros in commission.

Before kick-off, stadium announcer Norbert Dickel announced the Moukoko extension in front of the 80,000 fans at Signal Iduna Park. It was “very nice” to hear the applause from the BVB fans. “I’ve been here for seven years. I hope that I will stay here for a longer time.” However: the encouragement was also accompanied by whistles.
